THis is a Technics SL-1200 MK5 turntable. The following is a project for one of our clients. He wanted a “The Matrix” themed DJ setup. He has a MK5 and a MK2 which will be the center pieces of the project.
First we assessed what is broken, needs service and expectations from our client.
We disassembled the entire turntable and powder coated the plinth’s Darth Vader black. We then matched the base color with green LEDs.
We resurfaced the platter dots to a clean shine.
The tonearm assemblies were removed, cleaned and lubricated.
New Mogami RCA cable and Amphenol gold plated head shells with the ground internally grounded through RCA grounds.
We checked all the common areas on the circuit boards. Checked all the solder joints. Nothing too extensive besides the LED upgrades and paint.
Overall, this averaged to about $400 per table for parts and labor. Project investment varies depending on project scope.
